A Blessing by Joseph Smith Senior upon the head of Alexander Scoby Standley, son of Richard, born May 12, 1800 Middlesex County, New Jersey.
"Brother and son, we the servants of the living God, lay our hands upon thy head in the name of Jesus Christ and seal upon thee blessings which thou shalt realize hereafter. Inasmuch as thou hast been baptized with water for a remission of sins and been confirmed by the laying on of hands of those whom God has sent thou shalt have the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost.

Sister, by the authority of the Holy Priesthood and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the son of the living God I lay my hands on thy head to secure thee against the destroyer and from the power of Satan for his devices are many and he will seek to overthrow thee and many will seek to turn thee away from the truth and offer thee presents if thou wilt renounce Mormonism and if thou wilt not go to the land of Zion.

Richard Smith Robinson Patriarchal Blessing
On May 21,1859, Richard S. Robinson received his patriarchal blessing at Pinto Creek, Washington County, Utah Territory. Following is a copy of the blessing:
A Patriarchal Blessing by E. H. Grove upon the head of Richard Robinson, son of Edward Robinson and Mary Smith, born November 25, 1830 in the town of Upton, Cheshire, England.
"Brother Robinson, in the name of Jesus of Nazareth and by virtue of the Holy Priesthood in me vested, I place my hands upon thy head to seal upon thee a Patriarchal or Father's Blessing, which shall rest upon thee and thou shall realize the fulfillment thereof because of thy faith and the integrity of thy heart thy sins are remitted unto thee. Thy name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Thou shall increase in knowledge and understanding and progress as the principles of light are revealed, thy guardian angel will be with thee, not leave nor forsake thee but thou shall be delivered from thy common enemy, thou art called as a missionary to the Lamanites, many of whom shall yet look unto thee as a Father. They will hearken to thy council and thou will be able to go at the head of a portion of them when they shall go through among the gentiles agreeable to the records in the Book of Mormon. Thou shalt as assist in the redemption of Zion and the avenging of the blood of innocence upon them that dwell upon the earth. The angel of vengeance shall be with thee, he will strengthen thy nerves, thy sinews that like upon Ammon, no power shall be able to withstand thee. Thou shall become a mighty counselor in Israel, a man of judgment and decision able to fill any mission or station where unto thou mayest be called. Many of thy kindred, both of the living and of the dead shall be brought by thee to rejoice in the mansion with thy Father which has been prepared for thee. Thou art of the seed of Ephraim, a lawful heir to the fullness of the Holy Priesthood which thou shall receive in due time that thou mayest be able to stand in thy proper lot and station in the redemption of thy progenitors, many of whom shall be made known unto thee by holy messengers who shall reveal unto thee the genealogies of thy fathers. Thou art a father in Israel, thy posterity shall multiply and become numerous upon the earth.
"I seal upon thy head the blessings of thy fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Thy name shall be perpetuated in the last generations. Good order shall rest in thy habitations, wealth in great abundance shall flow into thy hands and all things needful to render life happy and aggreable. Thou shall behold the corning of the Redeemer, the reign of peace established upon the earth, enjoy the blessings of the fruits of the vine and olive yard, receive many blessings and privileges in the Temple in Zion, be anointed a King and a Priest unto the most, high God, receive thy crown, kingdom, dominion, power, and eternal increase, be numbered with the 144,000. Thy inheritance with the faithful of Ephraim's sons of Zion. These are thy blessings, they shall be shown unto thee. I seal them upon thy head in the name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, even so. Amen."

A Patriarchal Blessing given by Charles Edwards Patriarch, upon the head of Eliza West, daughter of Thomas and Caroline Dangerfield. Born Sept. 7th, 1832 Middlesex County London England.
Sister Eliza in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I place my hand upon your head and pronounce a Patriarchal Blessing, according to the commands and revelations of Jesus Christ through the Holy Priesthood given to me in this dispensation. I say unto you that you are of the Blood of Joseph that was sold into Egypt through the lineage of Ephraim and you are numbered among the mothers of Israel from whom much is expected.
You have a great work to perform upon the Earth. Seek to obtain the blessings of the Spirit of the Lord and the revelations which God seems fit to bestow upon you for the regulation and direction by which you shall be guided and directed in all your course through this your probationary state, and the power and spirit of God shall accompany all your administrations to your family and wherever your lot may be cast. For you shall administer unto the sick and see them healed; even the deaf to receive their hearing and the dumb to speak and almost the dead to be raised. For your faith shall be great in obtaining visions--administrations of angels who shall eat at your table and partake of food that shall have been provided by you and your family.
You shall have knowledge of spirit of just men made perfect and all the power which God designs to place upon the Daughters and Mothers in Israel. Seek to be directed by that monitor within you which shall always be your boon companion and shall be your comfort through all the troubles and trying times which you may be called upon to pass through during your future life which shall be lengthened out according to your faith and prayers and the desire of your heart. You shall always be enabled to counsel righteously with your sisters and be a particular friend to your sex, even the honorable women in whose company your lot may be cast and be enabled through your rich counsel and advice to bring back to the fold of Christ many who may have strayed away from the truth.
You shall always be a comfort to your husband, to his wives and to his children. Your name shall continue to be written in the Lamb's Book of Life and be had in honorable remembrance among the Mothers of Israel. You shall always feel happy and rejoice in having the privilege of donating of your substance to build temples and to assist in furnishing and decorating the same, to the honor and glory of God the Eternal Father and
Jesus the mediator of the New Covenant within the walls of which you shall become familiar with the Third Heavens and see and hear things which to mortals shall not only be insufferable but unlawful to utter except at proper times and proper places appointed for so doing. Your days and years shall be lengthened out and you shall live as long as life is sweet to you and see the Zion of the Lord redeemed and his kingdom fully
established upon the Earth. These blessings God will bestow upon you for the true integrity of your heart for having suffered your husband to enter into the law of Celestial marriage and partake unto himself another wife. Continue to administer unto him and God will bless you not only with blessing that is pronounced upon you at this time but greater blessings, which I cannot give utterance unto.
I seal upon you all your former blessings; your baptism, your conformation, your washings, your endowments. I say unto you that your pathway, though naturally troublesome, shall always appear straight unto you and hold fast to the rod of Iron and you shall arrive safe to your desired haven. I seal these blessings upon you and seal you up with power to enter into lives with your husband and all his wives and children whose posterity shall become numerous as the sands upon the seashore worlds without end.

You are of the House of Israel through the lineage of Ephraim and are fully entitled to have all the powers and gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit of God pertaining to the High and, Holy Priesthood of Jesus Christ our Lord. He having given the same through the great Prophet Seer and Revelator of this the last Dispensation, even Joseph Smith, and you have been blessed in your own native land with power to render obedience to the Holy Gospel, the great plan of Salvation and suffered yourself to be gathered to this land of Joseph by the power and revelation of God the Eternal Father, given to his servant Brigham Young, the lawful and legal successor to Joseph Smith, and now it is for you to round up your shoulders for the heavy burden that your Father in Heaven is about to place upon your shoulders, you having entered into the fullness of the law of Celestial marriage and God your Eternal Father is well pleased with your integrity and the desires and aspirations of your heart to do good and to work righteously here upon the Earth. He designs to help, bless and reward you for all the trials and troubles that you have been called to pass through during your past life.
You shall have power in your temporal conditions to gather around you all the elements and comforts of life that may be necessary for you from time to time under all the circumstances that you may be placed in all the future period of 1ife here on the Earth. You shall always be willing to contribute of your substance to the building of temples, of sending the gospel to the nations and gathering scattered Israel. And you shall have the privilege of going to your native land and raise your warning voice to your relatives and friends and obtain all the information that you may wish for with regard to your dead and after having filled your mission and after having filled your mission and been faithful to God you shall return home to Zion in safety to the be of your family; and in all your administrations you shall have power given you to heal the sick, cast out Devils, comfort the heart of the bowed down and every other blessing God designs to bestow upon his faithful children.
You shall become the Father of a numerous posterity that shall grow up and become honorable men and women, even Fathers and Mothers in Israel. Your fame shall be known far and near for your honesty and integrity to the truth. And though your path may be strewn with little troubles from time to time and the finger of scorn pointed at you and the wicked may seek your life, yet fear not, the spirit of the Lord is with you. You shall have the privilege to live to see the Zion of the Lord established and many temples and waste places built upon this the land of Zion and see this government broken into pieces as a potter's vessel according to the word spoken by the apostle of the Lord, Wilford Woodruff.
Be faithful and true to your family, and health and peace shall reign and rule in your habitation for you shall always have power to govern and control them in gentleness, meekness, and lowliness of heart and still in the humility of your soul you shall see the day that you shall stand up in the midst of your family in the power and majesty of a King and Priest unto God and not only to your family but be powerful in the councils of the Priesthood.
Seek to prepare your mind for this great work for God has blessed you with great talent and ability. All these blessings are yours if you live for them which I seal upon you with length of day which shall be according to your faith and the desire of your heart to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection with a numerous and honorable family.

This day a meeting was called at the House of Lyman Sherman for the purpose of blessing his family with a Patriarchal Blessing. After the company had come together the marriage ceremony of Alexander Whiteside and Electa Sherman was solemnized by William E. McLelland and the rites served by Esq. Hanson. After which the meeting proceeded to receive the blessing under the hands of President Joseph Smith Senior who commenced by prayer.
ASSENETH SHERMAN
Sister Sherman in as much as thou hasn’t been obedient to the commandments. Thou hasn’t come out from the world. In the name of Jesus Christ, I bless thee with the blessing of thy progenitors and with the fathers blessing and thou shalt be blessed in thy old age and thy life is sacred to thee for the Lord shall keep it and shall minister unto thee. And thou be gathered to they father in a good old age and thy children shall call thee blessed and I ask my Heavenly Father to seal it. Amen
LYMAN SHERMAN
Brother Lyman Sherman, I lay my hands upon thy head in the name of Jesus Christ and in as much as thou hasn’t no father, God shall be they father and he shall comfort thee and it has been promised too, that thou shall go forth and the Lord shall minister to thee and thou shalt have power to command the waters and though shalt cause the earth to tremble for thou art one of the house of Joseph. To push the people together and in the name of Jesus Christ I promise these blessings upon thee and upon thy children to the latest generation and I ask my Heavenly Father to seal it ever so Amen.
DELCENA SHERMAN
Sister Sherman, I lay my hands upon thy head in the name of Jesus Christ to bless thee and thou shalt receive a blessing with thy husband. And the Lord shall bless thee so thy heart shall be drawn after the good of the souls. So thou shalt be with thy husband shall go to declare the things of the Kingdom and he shall return. Yea, many times shall he return and at the end of his labor he shall return and you shall be blest together. And thy soul shall be blest with all the blessings of Heaven. Thou art in thy youth and I say unto thee keep the commandments of God for Satan shall seek to destroy thee but he shall not overcome. In as much as thou art faithful and thou shalt be blest with long life. Ever until thou art satisfied there with thy name is written in Heaven never more to be blotted out if faithful. And in the end of days thou shalt be gathered home to thy Father and I ask my Heavenly Father to seal these even so. Amen
ALMON SHERMAN
Thou hasn’t not opened thy mouth as thou aught to have done but if thou wilt humble thyself. Thou shalt be blest with a Father’s blessing for the Lord has tired thee and thy desire mostly have been pure and the Lord shall bless thee and he shall be thy Father and thy tongue shall be loosed and shalt be blessed with many sheaves and thou shalt lead many to Zion and they shall call thee blest. And thou shalt be blest with all things, which thou covets in righteousness. Desire and thou shalt go forth and none shall have power to stop thy ministry nor take thy life until thou shall stay it down for the cause of Christ and in the name of the Lord. These things are yours if you seek them will all thy heart, ever so. Amen
