Philinda Upson Standley Obituary

"Died at Richmond, Cache County, Utah, 27 January, 1892, of old age super induced by the grip, Philinda Upson Standley, born August 1, 1814, in Portage County, Ohio, Married 19 March 1829 to Alexander Scoby Standley. She, with her husband, was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in March 1837. They moved to Missouri in the fall of 1838, and shared the mobings and expulsion with the Saints from that State. They moved to Commerce, afterwards called Nauvoo, in April 1840. She was a member of the first Relief Society that was organized by the Prophet Joseph. She often bore her testimony to the divinity of the Mission of the Prophet Joseph Smith, and of his mantle falling upon the Prophet Brigham Young. She with her husband were among the privileged few that received their endowments in the Nauvoo Temple. They left Nauvoo in '46 wintering in Panca and sharing the privations with the Saints at that place. They crossed the plains in 1852 and settled in Davis County. She was left a widow December 29, 1854 with a large family, being the mother of three sons and eight daughters, six of whom survive her. She moved to Cache County in 1865. She has seventy-two grandchildren and ninety-six great grandchildren. She was a very exemplary woman, and died as she lived, a faithful Latter Day Saint. The remains were interred in Bountiful by the side of her husband. J. L. B."

Mary Edna Ovard Wilde obituary

Mary Edna Ovard Wilde, 89, passed away on August 28, 2004 in Heber City, Utah, ending her earthly journey to take a second step forward with those waiting to greet her. Mary was born on December 28, 1914 to Thomas and Mary Ann Shill Edgeworth Ovard at the family home in Henefer. She married her eternal sweetheart and companion Lloyd O'Driscoll "Ducky" Wilde on June 22, 1935 and they recently celebrated 69 years of happiness together. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 14, 1958. Mary enjoyed crocheting, quilting, Thanksgiving, Christmas, birds, sweet peas and attending the Ogden Temple with her companion. She truly enjoyed being with her family – they were the joy of her life and she welcomed each new member. She loved children, welcoming guests into her home and taught her family many things by example. She was a member of the Henefer Camp Daughters of Pioneers Organization. She was a member of the Henefer 1st LDS Ward and was a visiting teacher for over 50 years. She attended school in Henefer and Coalville, graduating from North Summit High School. Her earthly life is over and she will be greatly missed, but we know she is in a better place. Survivors include her loving husband Lloyd "Ducky" Wilde of Henefer; daughters and spouses, Connie (Vernal) Carter of Porterville, Sharon (Gary) Pace of Hoytsville, DiAnn (Bill) Staples of Coalville, and Pamela (Dave) Robbins of Henefer; a sister-in-law Clara Ovard and a special niece Arvilla Fawcett of Henefer; 19 grandchildren and 50 great-grand-children. Preceded in death by brothers she dearly loved: Joe" Boss" Ovard, George Ovard, Roy Ovard, and Lawrence "Bud" Ovard. Funeral services held on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 in Henefer 1st Ward Chapel. Interment, Henefer Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Walker Mortuary, Morgan and Coalville Utah.

Joseph Edward Wilde, 83, and Susie O'Driscoll Wilde, 87, died in their home in Coalville Monday, October 16 of natural causes at 6:45 and 8 a.m. respectively.
They were married October 5, 1904 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They were the first couple to receive their marriage license from the Summit County courthouse after its completion.
Mr. Wilde was born Sept. 11, 1884 in Coalville, the son of Fredrick and Jemima Clark Wilde. He was an Elder in the LDS church, a rancher and a butcher and served on the Coalville City Council.
Mrs. Wilde was born May 13, 1880 in Kamas, the daughter of John Knight O'Driscoll and Sarah Ellen Neibour. She served in various offices of the Coalville Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, served many years in the Coalville Ward Relief Society presidency and as an active visiting teacher.
They are survived by the following children; Leland, Park City; Mrs. Annie W. Reese, Coalville; Fred, Orem; Lloyd O., Henefer; Mrs. Elmo (Ellen) Carpenter, Jessie E. and Albert J., all of Salt Lake City; 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She is survived by brothers and sisters, Issac and Jesse O'Driscoll, Kamas and Mrs. Gladys Zabriskie of Salt Lake City.
Services were held at 1 p.m. in the Summit Stake Center with burial in the Coalville City Cemetery.

William Henry Bone obituary
A clipping taken from the Deseret Evening News at the time of his death dated March 12, 1900 reads as follows:
Kaysville, March 12 - William H. Bone, one of Kaysville's early settlers died Suddenly last night at 9:40 of heart failure. He was in his usual good health and spirits yesterday, and in accordance with his usual custom, he took an evening walk of half an hour or more after dark, returning to the house less than an hour before his death. After reading for some time he bade his wife an affectionate good night and retired. In less than a minute he was dead. There was no struggle. He apparently passed into peaceful repose, the only sign of the end being his labored breathing.
Mr. Bone was a man of sterling qualities, honest and upright in every walk of life. He was a native of Exeter, England, where he was born September 1828-1829. He was married in 1854 and with his wife came to America two years later, stopping in New York for four years, and then coming to Utah. Since 1861 they have resided in Kaysville. Mrs. Bone and ten children survive him, six daughters, Mary Ellen Barnett, Rhoda Jane Bone Blamires of Kaysville, Emma Egbert of Franklin, Idaho, Clara, Florence, and Anna of Salt Lake City, and four sons, William James and Francis of Layton, Utah, Thomas Henry and Richard Edwin of Kaysville. The deceased had a wide acquaintance in Utah and was universally respected. Funeral services will be held in the Kaysville Meeting House on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Kaysville City Cemetery.
His children were all industrious, stalwart and respected citizens in the communities in which they lived, a fine tribute to their parents.

HEART ATTACK CLAIMS WORKER ON CITY PROJECT
Joseph Thorson, 68, 557 E. 4th S. of Provo City, died Tuesday while at work, apparently of a heart attack. Born May 28, 1886, in Richfield. The son of Lars and Karen Iverson Thorson, he received his education in the Richfield Schools and first worked for the Johnston Hotel there.
Mr. Thorson was married to Sarah May Curtis on April 7, 1915, in Salt Lake City, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Following their marriage, the Thorsons made their home in Salt Lake City where Mr. Thorson was employed with the Inland Crystal Salt Company.
In 1921 they moved to Provo, where he worked as a farmer and also for the U.P.M. Company during the construction of the Geneva Steel Plant. For the past 10 years he had been employed by Provo City.
Mr. Thorson was a member of the L.D.S. Church and a member of the Provo Municipal Employees Association.
Mr. Thorson is survived by his wife, Provo; four sons and seven daughters. Joseph Thorson, Kaysville; Ralph and Grant Thorson, Ogden; Robert Thorson, Provo; Mrs. Armond (Myrna) Brooksby, Eugene Ore; Mrs. Lorus (Patra) Walker, Midvale; Mrs. Norman (Nona) Baker, Mrs. Carl (Myrtle) Lassen; Plainsfield N.J.; Mrs. Jack (Joyce) Morgan, Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. Vard (Iona) Roper, and Gail Thorson Provo; 18 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Drongesen, Selma, Calif; and Mrs. Mary Sencer, Hollywood, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel. Officiating will be Newell A. Johnson, Bishop of the Provo Seventh Ward.
Friends may call at the mortuary Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. And Saturday prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.

Draper - Mrs. Eliza Alice Draper, wife of George H. Draper, died at 7:30 a.m. yesterday at the home in Clearfield of a hemorrhage. She had been visiting her son, Charles H. Draper, of Layton, and upon her return was stricken. The deceased was born in London, Eng., April 6, 1862, the daughter of Charles H. and Eliza Dangerfield West. She came to Utah 64 years ago. Mrs. Draper was a member of the Mormon church and was active in relief society work.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Eliza J. Watts, Blackfoot, Ida.; Charles H. Draper of Layton; Jesse H., of Ogden; Zilnorah, Jabez M., A. E. F., France; Caroline E., Annie, Ellamay, Thomas and Leona Draper, all of Clearfield.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Clearfield meeting house conducted by Bishop Stoker. The body may be viewed Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday until 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in West Jordan cemetery (sic).
