Samuel Biles Brown short notes

Samuel Biles Brown
(b. Abt. 1763, d. 14 Jul 1814)

(More research and proof of sources needs to be completed for Samuel B. Brown.  His birth is listed alternately as 1740 and 1763.  His father's birth, also dated in 1740, causes me to believe that the 1763 is the correct year.

It is noted that Samuel Brown was an officer and died in the French and Indian war.  Since the French and Indian conflict occured from 1754-1763 it is unlikely that Samuel served in that war.  More likely he was killed in the War of 1812, which occured between 1812 and 1815.

Death dates for Samuel vary as well.  I have seen it recorded as both 1814 and 1849.  In several places it has been noted that he died when his son was 14-15 years old.  Abia was born in the year 1799 leading me to conclude that the July 14, 1814, death date is correct.

My assumption then is that Samuel B. Brown was born in the year 1763, became and officer in the War of 1812, and died in that war on July 14, 1814.  If anyone has further information that could clarify these dates I would be very happy to receive it. - Rhonda Pace)
